Call me lazy. I do copy and paste this time because the press info for BRAAINZZ describes his music so well and there’s NOTHING else to be found about this guy. Yes, his “Shroom Folk” starts guitar plinging folky – but wait for the vocals. Here we go – watch and download “StoneColdSteveBoston” and more on his soundcloud!

“BRAAINZZ is a collectively minded lofi recording project based out of Highland Park, Los Angeles. The (BRAIN) child of ILLieNel$oN, the project’s an experiment in what he’s termed Shroom Folk — a pretentious way of saying “trippy shit”. Tape loops, autotune, pitch bending, country, rap, folk, BRAAINZZ does whatever with whomever, whenever and whyever. However, too. Whatever.”

Last Lynx is an indie pop band from Stockholm, influenced by both modern electro pop and 60’s organic pop. We stumbled upon their amazing single “Killing switch” a while ago and asked the band for a short interview. Here we go:

Please tell us a little bit about the beginnings: how did it all start with Last Lynx?

Last Lynx started in the summer of 2011 when Robin Eveborn and the brothers Fredric and Marcus Lindblom decided to make music together. They released the EP “Alaska” around christmas and had Camilla Dahlstedt featuring on vocals on several tracks. “Alaska” was kindly received in the blogosphere and Last Lynx took a final form: Robin – Vocals, organ and synthesizers, Camilla – Vocals, Marcus – Guitar, Fredric – Drums and Kim Lindqvist – bass.

We spent 2012 writing new songs focusing on the construction of the songs which the single “Killing Switch” is a result of.

What is the songwriting process in your band like? Is there a musical mastermind?

All of our songs have been created in different ways. The EP “Alaska” was created in the studio before we even had rehearsed once.

Most of the tracks on the up coming EP “Ocean Reels” began with someone having an idea for a groove or a melody, then we took it to our rehearsal space and started to jam on it. When we thought that we had a good thing going we went in the studio and started creating some sounds. Since Robin produces our songs he comes up with a lot of the weird sounds and the “sound atmosphere” but everyone brings something to the table.

You’re living in Stockholm. How does the city and its music/club/culture scene influence your work?

None of us is very much in to clubbing and parties, we are more often out in the woods and barbecuing than out dancing. You could say that Stockholm’s proximity to the forest has shaped us in some way. But when we go out we rather just watch a great band and have a glass of wine.

Your debut EP “Alaska”, which was highly acclaimed by the blogosphere, was produced without a record company. You’re now signed to SoFo Records. What are the advantages to be signed to a label for you? Did it change the way you work on your new EP?

The songwriting process is pretty much the same, except now we have the possibility to get more opinions and work the songs through before releasing them. SoFo also has more channels to reach out to the public then we would have been able to reach by our selves.

What else besides your EP can we expect from Last Lynx in 2013?

We’re playing at Sweden’s biggest festival Peace & Love this summer and we’re hoping to release more dates for festivals/gigs this year.

If you could choose to play a support gig for any band you want to, which one would you choose and why? Where would you love to play the gig?

Wow, good question. We listen to a lot of different bands within Last Lynx but we all love Gorillaz and that would be a huge honor to play with them. It would also be so cool to open up for Breakbot in a small club in Paris.

Thank you, guys! We’re looking foward to hearing more from you.

In the 60s every country needed it’s own native language Rock’n'Rollers. Wirtschaftswunder-Germany only had Peter Kraus… that white Elvis (sic) was not a hip shaking Bürgerschreck, but grandmas Liebling with incredible stupid teeny Schlager lyrics. Haha, Krauts, that’s all you got?
Back in the presence: CHUCKAMUCK crawl out of a rotten basement in Berlin – so 50 years had to pass that Germany finally got it’s own GarageRocknRollers?! Listen to these guys rumbling through 5 decades of garagerock in the footsteps of Chuck Berry, Little Richard, early Beatles, The Sonics, Stooges, Ramones, Dickies – and last but least, no Peter Kraus (except for slightly silly lyrics about girls and icecream). Their concerts are hilarious fun, and their second album “Jiles” is almost better than their fantastic debut “Wild for Adventure”. Get in touch with CHUCKAMUCK.

Who are you, how long does the band Chuckamuck exists? And what does “Chuckamuck” mean?

All: The band exists for 6 years now, it’s a secret where the bandname comes from and we are: Jiles(J), Mohair Sam(MS), Lorenz O`Tool(LB) und Oska Wald(OW).
MS: I had a vision of a burning cake telling me the band should be called The Beatles (with an A), but unfortunately the bandname was already taken.

When I heard you the first time I thought: I hope the boys never learn to play their guitars properly! And now you recorded your new album with REAL producer Moses Schneider. Did this change your sound? Did the way of production change in contrast to the work on your first album?

LB: Actually we had a real producer for the first album, too!
J: Moses came into our rehearsal space to get to know us and liked the sound in our basement so much, that we took this sound into the studio.
OW: It was different that we tried to record 12 singles with 12 different moods on the new album.

Sometimes you sound like RnR in the 50s, like Pre-Beatles in a garage, like The Sonics, but you even sound like the Ramones – you are rumbling through decades of garage rock. What are your musical influences?

OW: The time we recorded the album I listened to a lot of Orchestra Baobab what you can hear on the last song.
L: Of course we have a lot of influences, but we don’t try to copy, but to create our own sound!

Your song “354 722 384″ – that’s “Fanmail” by The Dickies, right?

All: What’s the song called? We love The Dickies, but never heard of this song!

You don’t seem to be too fond of too much musical perfection. What do you offer instead of that?

OW: Musical Perfection IS important to us! I don’t know what’s this is about…
MS: It’s more about getting a perfect take with a perfect feeling. And a few small mistakes are sometimes helpful.

Who do you like to record a song with?

J: With Fettes Brot.

What was your most exciting show till now?

MS: The first time I got on stage with Chuckamuck and I could barely play bass!
LB: Roskilde
OW: Fusion
J: Fete de la Musik in 2011

Who’s your favorite?

OW: Ish Marquez
J: My brother
MS: Hellshovel
LB: Bronco

German language in pop – who influences you, who writes good lyrics?

OW: I actually find all the German bands shit.
MS : I like FSK.
LB: Ton Steine Scherben and Element of Crime.
J: I go with that.

Is there a specific scene in Berlin you are part of?

OW: We don’t feel being part of any scene here, but we like The Gondors und Jachzen Bachzen.
MS: Is there a scene in Berlin?
LB: I would like to go into the Bunker.
J: Nope.

Please name your favorite 5 albums!

1 LB: “Break Up Break Down” by Reigning Stound
2 MS: All of Little Richard
3 OW: “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” by Lauryn Hill
4 J: “Be Brave” by Strange Boys
5 Alle: “Jiles” by Chuckamuck

THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW!!

Far more people need to listen to NIGHT ENGINE. I would say they sound like David Bowie singing with Gang of Four, feat. Nile Rodgers on guitar – what a dream line up! Where’s the album? I’d buy two!!
Their debut single “Seventeen” was released in February on Demand Vinyl, followed by a tour supporting Kaiser Chiefs. The guys are back on the road for their first UK headline tour in June 2013!

Fuck Fucking, let’s K.I.S.S. !!!

This giant gayzillatron of a tune is an open source history of electro hip hop 1983 – 2013. A techno-colored indoor fire(Kraft)woerk loaded with quotes, allusions and inventions: looking for the perfect beat with the Soul Sonic Force … letting the old atomic dog off the leash with George Clinton … taming the buffalo girls stampede Malcolm McLaren had once trampled loose … a laughing hyena doing it with the woodpecker from space … housin’ with the Jungle Brothers … born to roll, like Masta Ace … fatty like a boom boom. In other words: this is love & theft in a hip hop wild-style, today. And if you don’t get that …

K.I.S.S. OFF !!!
