Don’t be afraid – you don’t have to speak Norwegian to understand what’s going on in the movie trailer below but as a special service to our non-Norwegian audience, which is the bigger part of you Bushwahnians, I suppose, I’ll give you a brief summary: One day in 1979, Magnus and Nikolaj (father and son) are moving to their new terrace house in the small town of Rykkinn where equality and conformity are the norm – no wonder that Magnus, who is an architect, hippie and free spirit, stands out in this narrow-minded community.
Magnus always stands up for his son, supporting him unconditionally, even more after Nikolaj’s, after his mum’s unexpected and sudden death, decides to stop giving a damn. “‘Sons of Norway’ is a film about rebellion, punk rock, suburban hell and the struggle between freaks and punks. But most of all, it’s the story of an unusual father-son relationship, and about the strength of the bonds we sometimes do our best to rip apart”.
And last but not least: with a guest appearance of Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols). Wow!
