Scarlet Soho – When The Lights Go Out
Scarlet Soho is back. After the release of their amazing second album “Warpaint” in 2009 they just offered “When the lights go out” to the public, a five-track EP which is out today.
James Knights and bass/synth sidekick Scarlet (completed live by Stuart Key) did a bunch of live-gigs over the last couple of months with other bands and assimilated several musical impressions they were exposed to during touring, which had sort of an influence on the recordings of this EP. “After-parties played a heady mix of Italo-disco, French house and minimal techno. Each member of the band discovered new favourite tracks which quickly found their way onto the tour bus stereo for the long drives between shows.”
But don’t worry guys, this is still the Sacrlet Soho sound with great synths and James’ significant voice. A worthy follow-up to “Warpaint”. “When the lights go out” is the title track of the EP and might sound like the strongest tune on the first sight but you should definitely also listen to the power-pop-anthem “Retail therapy” which is my personal favorite.
