HOTT MT vs. Wayne Coyne
Known for notorious awesomeness, the mighty mighty Flaming Lips vanished into obscurest obscurity last year releasing unlisteneable sounds in groundbreaking formats: USB sticks implanted into gummy skulls and a plastic Fetus (buy here), 6- and even 24-hour songs, features with Lightning Bolt and Neon Indian, a Pink Floyd-Cover Album, a track seperated into 12 youtube movies (you need 12 iphones simultaneously playing the different movies to listen to the whole song…) and even a collaboration with Yoko Ono. WHO LISTENS TO ALL THIS CRAP? Well, me. Only to determine again one of the best Rock Bands of the last 2000 years seems to forget about – the music and the songs itself.
So it’s about time FL main man Wayne Coyne got hold to gunpoint by some weirdos cruising 22 hours from L.A. to Oklahama and forcing him to record a fantastic tune with them. “Hour of the Time, Majesty Twelve” (short HOTT MT), a side project of guys from Indie-Poppers Telegram play some crazy psycho-”Thai-gaze” (that’s how they call it). During their 4-day kidnapping they even shot a video to “Never hate again”. Watch:
